Why a recovery-only practice

Most SEO work is about growth: acquiring more links, publishing more content, improving technical performance. That's a different problem from recovery. Recovery work requires a different set of skills, a different analytical approach, and a different relationship with the client.

Lovayo Gizica was founded on the observation that most sites in penalty situations were getting advice from people who primarily do growth-oriented SEO. The advice wasn't wrong, exactly. It just wasn't calibrated for the specific signals Google uses to assess remediation.

We built a practice that focuses exclusively on the diagnostic and recovery side of that problem.

What makes the diagnostic process different

We start with data, not assumptions

Before we form any hypothesis about what caused a traffic drop, we map the drop's timing against documented algorithm update dates, review Search Console coverage data, analyze crawl logs if available, and examine the site's historical link acquisition patterns. The diagnosis comes from what the data shows, not from a checklist of common problems.

We distinguish between types of issues

A site can lose traffic for many reasons simultaneously. Separating a sitewide quality signal problem from a link-related issue from a technical indexation problem requires looking at the pattern of lost rankings, not just the aggregate traffic number. We document each type of issue separately and prioritize accordingly.

We respect what you've already tried

Every client who reaches us has already done something. Usually several things. We review that history carefully because it tells us what doesn't work for this specific site, and often points toward what the actual problem is. We don't ask you to repeat work that didn't change anything.

We write everything down

Every finding, every recommendation, every decision in the recovery process is documented in writing. This matters for reconsideration requests where you need to demonstrate to Google what you found and what you changed. It also means you have a complete record of the recovery work that doesn't depend on our involvement to be useful.

Our office is at 3915 W 26th St, Chicago, IL. All consulting work is conducted remotely via video calls and written communication. We work with clients across the US.

Remote work is not a limitation for this type of consulting. The analysis is done in data, the findings are delivered in writing, and the guidance happens on calls. Location has never been a barrier.
